How do I reconnect with someone I met once?
One conversation, a good one, and then nothing. It's the most common way a potential friend, collaborator or something more slips away, and it's fixable more often than people think. Here's how to reach back out, and how to stop it happening next time.

If you have a thread, use it
A name, a mutual friend, a company, a handle you half-remember: any one of them is enough. Reach out where they'll see it and lead with the moment, not with yourself. "We talked about the Lisbon trip at Sam's thing in June" places you instantly. Keep it to two sentences and one clear ask: a coffee, a call, a link you promised.
If you have nothing but the place
Then the place is your thread. Go back at the same time, ask the people who run it, check the event's tag or attendee list. The old missed-connections boards work by luck; use them if you like, don't count on them. The person who reconnects is usually just the one who tried once more than felt comfortable.

What to say
Say the true thing plainly: "I enjoyed talking to you and I should have asked for your number." Most people are flattered, not alarmed, when it's specific and it comes with an easy out. Don't over-explain, don't apologize for reaching out, and if there's no reply, that's your answer; let it be.
Misd: make the next one findable
This is exactly what Misd was built for. MomentsĀ® records when you and another Misd user were at the same place at the same time, so the person from the party, the panel or the platform stays findable after you've both left. No name, no number, no problem. It's an entertainment and community app for anyone looking to meet someone, whatever the reason, and it's invite-only right now, iOS today, Android coming.
Questions people ask
- Is it weird to message someone I met once?
- Not if it's specific and short. Name the moment, make one small ask, give them an easy out.
- How long is too long to reach back out?
- Later than you'd like is still fine. A year on, "this is overdue, but" is a perfectly good opener.
- Can Misd find someone I met before I had the app?
- No. Moments are recorded going forward and only when both people have Misd. It's why it's worth getting in early and bringing a friend.
