What the venue can and can't do

A good club protects its guests, which means the door won't share who was on the list and the bartender won't pass along a number. What they can do is tell you whether there's a recurring night, a resident DJ or a promoter's page where the same crowd shows up again. That's your lead.

Go back on the same night

Regular nights have regular people. If you met on a Thursday hip-hop night, the odds they're back on a Thursday are far higher than any other night. Go with a friend, keep expectations light, and let it be a good night whether or not they show.

The photographer and the tagged photos

Most clubs and many bars have a photographer or a house account. Photos post within a day or two. Scan for the moment you remember, then look at who's tagged or who commented. It's slow and it's a long shot, but it's a real one.

That's still something. Take it to the photographer's photos, not the door staff. Photos are searchable by eye; a bouncer's memory is not.
