Where do people post missed connections now, and what actually works?
For twenty years "missed connections" meant a Craigslist board: you, red coat, F train, Tuesday. The board is gone and the feeling isn't. Here's where the posts went, why they mostly don't land, and the option that didn't exist before.
Where the posts went
Reddit (r/MissedConnections and the city subreddits), city Facebook groups, a few dedicated sites, and the comment sections of venue and event pages. Each has the same shape: you describe a person and a moment, and you hope they, or someone who knows them, is reading.
Why boards rarely work
A board post reaches the people reading the board, not the people who were in the room. The person you're looking for has to know the board exists, look at it the same week, recognize themselves in a stranger's description, and be brave enough to answer. Every step loses most people. When it works it's a lovely story, which is why you've heard the stories and not the silence around them.

What works better
Anything that starts from the place instead of the post: the venue's photographer, the event's community, the mutual friend. Those reach people who were actually there.
And then there's Misd

- Mostly, with the usual rules: don't post someone's full name, plate or workplace, and meet in public.
- Can I still post on Craigslist?
- No. Craigslist removed its personals sections, including Missed Connections, in the US in 2018.
- Is there an app or website for finding people you missed a connection with?
- The boards (Reddit, city Facebook groups) are the websites, and they work by luck. Misd is the app: instead of posting and hoping, it records the overlap itself and shows you who was there. Both people need Misd, which is the honest catch.
