Misd for Business vs Placer.ai
Checked against Placer.ai's public pages on 2026-09-18.
Placer.ai is a location-analytics platform: an interactive dashboard, an API and data feeds, sold as a customized subscription with a dedicated customer success manager. Pricing is not published; you fill in a form and they tailor a package. It is built for teams who analyze many properties, chains and industries, and it is very good at that.
Misd for Business is a weekly briefing about the crowd around one address. Sixteen cards on Pro, each answering one owner question, refreshed every Sunday with an action attached. Published pricing from $699 a month, first card free, 7-day money-back guarantee. It is built for the person who runs the place, not the analyst who studies it.
Side by side
| The question | Misd for Business | Placer.ai |
|---|---|---|
| What does it cost? | Published: Pro $699/mo, Elite $1,600/mo, annual rates lower. First card free. | Customized subscription packages; price on request via their form. A limited freemium edition exists. |
| How do I use it? | Read a briefing on Sunday. One card, one answer, one action. | Open the dashboard and analyze. Unlimited properties, chains and industries; API and feeds for your own tools. |
| Who is it for? | Owners and operators of a physical place: one location or a handful. | Teams in retail, real estate and CRE analyzing portfolios and markets. |
| Where does the data come from? | The Misd social network first — people who cross paths in real life — plus public signals like events and weather. We own our signals. | Aggregated location data; the platform's methodology is documented on their site. |
| Do I need training? | No. If you can read an email you can read a card. | A customer success manager is included in the subscription to help you get value from the platform. |
| Do I get told what to do? | Yes. Every card ends in an action you can take or skip. | You draw conclusions from the data; reports can be exported and shared. |
What Placer.ai does that we don't
- An API and data feeds, so their data can live inside your own dashboards and reporting.
- Unlimited properties, chain rankings and industry-level analysis — portfolio and site-selection work at scale.
- A freemium edition to see the shape of the platform before talking to sales.
- A dedicated customer success manager included with the subscription.
If you run a portfolio and want a platform, Placer.ai is a serious one. If you run a place and want to know what changed around it this week, start with a free card.
The three questions owners ask us
Is any of this tracking my customers?
No. Briefings measure the shape and type of crowds — how many, from where, from when, what they're interested in. A group too small to be a crowd never appears, and nothing in a card can identify a person. Data policy and regulation sit with us, not with you.
Is my area even covered?
Your first card tells you. It's free and it's built on the crowd around your address, so if there isn't enough signal yet you'll see that before you pay anything. Cards get stronger as the Misd network grows around you, with no extra fee.
How accurate is it?
Each card says how it knows: Researched, Benchmarked or Measured (counted on the Misd network, not modeled). When something can't be measured the card says so instead of filling the gap with a guess, and a view too thin to report responsibly is widened, never invented. A published card doesn't quietly change; if something is revised, the next Sunday says so.
